My attempt at doubling money through sports betting
I was keeping an eye on that guy and betting "expert" Southeast31 doing his bets etc at this site plus a few others and thought I'd become a member here and show him what he was doing wrong. I don't actually believe he was using that amount of money, he was probably adding on a load of 0's to what he was really betting with. So when he said he was using £100,000, he was probably using just £100 and when he said he was using another £200,000 and then another £200,000, that was probably just another £200 and £200 so £500 in total. Oh wait, he then said he used anther £100,000 emergency funds so that was probably another £100, totalling £600 alltogther. No way did he bet with £600,000.
If someone really was betting with that amount, they wouldn't come on here and make a fool of themselves. Like i say, the likelihood is he was betting in the hundreds rather than hundeds of thousands. Maybe he was just trying to impress people here because he was so confident of winning. I checked his results and he was quite close on some occasions but he was too foolish and looked inexperianced to me.
Anyway, i've got quite a bit of experiance of betting myself so im gonna post my bets on here, similarly to what he did. I don't have the kind of money he was claiming to have nor anywhere near but i will use an imaginary amount and just show what I would have won had the money been real money. Thats good because if I lose, I'm only losing imaginary money. I'll do the same as what he claimed to start off with. I'll start off with £100,000 and ill double this imaginary amount between 1 and 6 months. Southeast31 was making far too many mistakes and lacked discipline, patience and was being rushed into chasing his money because he couldn't accept losses without panicking. He also made many other mistakes. If he carries on like that, he will always lose his money. There's no way he has a system that works.
I feel i can double the money as i'll use my experiance. Like i say i don't have the type of money to make big bucks out of gambling. There is definitely something to be made out of gambling however, you need big bucks to begin with otherwise to win big bucks you go for ridiculously long odds that will only mean you lose your money. I'll show Southeast31 how to double my money on here and if anyone wants to come in with me with real money after i've proven it with imaginary money, i'll be happy to bet on your behalf and double the money (however much you want to use) within 1-6 months and then split the profits, maybe 80%-20% split in your favour being as it is your money. But watch my predictions actually work first.
So let me double my money. Give me between 1-6 months to do it. I'll post the predictions here before the bets start, just like Southeast31 was doing.
So I have £100,000 in the pot.
1. First bet placed 01/09/08, £6,000 treble with www.willhill.com
- Andy Murray to beat Stanislas Wawrinka (US Open, 02/09/08) at price of 4/11
- E.Dementieva to beat Patty Schnyder (US Open, 02/09/08) at price of 2/7
- England to beat South Africa (Cricket, 03/09/08) at price of 8/15
Note, It's better to bet on tennis matches with a betting company that offers your money back if a player has to retire injured during the match. William Hill offers this wheras Ladbrokes and others don't so I would never bet on a tennis match without this insurance. So, for example, if Murray gets injured in his match with Wawrinka and has to pull out, if you'd placed the bet with Ladbrokes and a lot of other companies, you would lose. But with William Hill it is void rather than a loss.

Couple questions..[ i'm a little slow ].....
This is just a pen and paper experiment yes...... Have you done this before with real cash?....

Good luck with this, punter. I like the look of your first bet, in particular I think the South Africans are already on their way home in their minds and if it doesn't rain will get stonked.
What happens if it does rain, btw? How do the bookies treat a no result?

I agree that this sounds a lot more realistic and nice tip re tennis matches as I wasn't aware of that. I posted once regarding the previous attemptee that he was chasing money by trying to back to many bankers in accumulators which meant if just 1 went down the lot was sunk. Slow and steady would appear to be the way this minimising losses and increasing chance of winning even if only small amounts!
To use the poker term "I would rather win a small pot than lose a big one":thumb:

Arlo, hi yes this is just pen and paper, using an imaginary amount, seeing what would happen had i £100,000 real cash to play with. Using actual real odds available so it will be a good indication of what would happen to my 100 grand if it was real money.
I've betted for many years and on occasions ive made a lot of money but ive also lost a lot. I don't have the big money to bet big but I think once you become experianced at it and learn from your mistakes, you stay in control and are confident, you can make something if you've got big money to begin win. You've just got to stick to certain strict criteria that you know in you mind works for you and stick to it all the time! Making money of the bookies is bloody tough though so nothing is easy. I atually think Southeast did quite well, looking at even his most recent bet, had Real Madrid beat Deportivo La Coruna (which on paper and maybe if it was later in the season they would have), he would have won 1.3 million (though as we all reckon, he was adding on 0's so it was probably hundreds rather than hundreds of thousands, but still he would have won back everything he lost plus more)
tigergambit, yeah i reckon had it not been rained off, S.A would have been stonked again! Their confidence against Englands pace attack would have been at an all time low, plus England were going for the 5-0 whitewash. I have little doubt England would have won yesterday. The fact that it was rained off means that particular selecton becomes void so i just win on the other 2 selections (double). That is the general bookie view on non-results like this.
eggster, i agree with you there...chasing your money is a definite thing the bookies use against punters...they know its human nature to 'chase' it when you lose so you have to stay in control and be patient, dont run after your lost money, walk after it!!

A good start so far and as i expected going for 3 pretty much bankers is paying off. Slow and steady wins the race 5% up on the week might not seem much but if was using real money would be a nice healthy profit that I'm sure none of us would turn our noses up at!
