    Poker Prodigy Jose Macedo Admits Involvement In $30,000 Online Poker Scandal

    [replacer_a]‘Portuguese Poker Prodigy’ Jose Macedo has confessed his part in an online poker scandal. He admitted to scamming other high-stakes poker players by initially gaining their trust, ‘sweating’ them and then playing against them on another account. All in all he managed to net $30,000 of swindled money.
    His post on the poker forum he writes on read;
    “A while ago, I did something stupid. A friend of mine, whom I introduced to poker, made a suggestion to me which was, I’m not going to sugar coat it, cheating. I had introduced this friend to poker, and he was losing money — badly. He asked to play some of my poker friends and said ‘why don’t you sweat them and we’ll see their hands.’ I don’t know why I agreed. I don’t know why I did it. I guess it was a mixture of guilt and stupidity and feeling shitty for getting him involved in something which seemed to be bad for him.”
    He continued: “I’m holding my hands up and taking whatever consequences come. I realise the severity of this, but I also realise that I have to take responsibility for my actions and so I’m paying back everyone involved and in addition paying them compensation of $30,000. I’ve also told my sponsor etc and whatever happens there I will take the consequences too. They have been really amazing to me and I’ve enjoyed every minute of working with them. Representing Lock and being part of their amazing team, witnessing the incredible growth, was a pleasure and an honor.”
    ‘Sweating’ means that these other players allowed Macedo to see their online sessions, giving him access to their cards. Macedo would then pass the details on to ‘opponents’ on the same table; these being either his a close friend or himself. In this case, Macedo was using heads-up strategy discussion group on Skype to lure in his targets, then passing on information to “sauron1989″, who was either himself or said accomplice.
    Even though he has taken full responsibilty for this scam, Macedo should not be expecting any reprieve. In fact he has already lost an existing deal with PokerStrategy where he was an online poker coach to over 80 students (some of whom he ‘sweat’) and today card player.com revealed that LockPoker.com had dropped him as one of their pros.
    LockPoker CEO, Jennifer Larson stating: ”All of us at Lock are horrified and incredibly disappointed by Jose’s actions. Within 10 minutes of finding out about the fraudulent behavior his LockPRO contract was terminated and his account was banned permanently…Jose’s has defrauded the players, the art of poker and the basic human relationship”.
    Macedo has been in trouble before; once having is Bluff Pro Challenge Title on Lock Poker stripped from him as it was revealed he had let a second player use his account during the event.
    Macedo, who has won over $2million playing poker has offered to repay the $30,000 and an additional $30,000 in compensation.

    what a jerk, did he get caught then confessed or just held his hands up to it. If he felt so bad in getting his mate involved in poker why not just give him his money back from his own pocket grrrr. also if he coaches why did he not explain a little bank roll strategy first. all sounds like a lot of poor excuses to plain and simple CHEATING! not good for poker at all.
    I failed English, hope it makes sense, it did when I wrote it…honest it did.:confused:

    From what I read..Yeh looked like he owned up after he'd been found it. There's some skype chatbox stuff
    floating around in which he confesses.
